“Like golf, business should be a gentleman’s game. You can play with a competitive spirit without wishing your opponent to miss a par putt. You can strive to overcome challenges during your round while enjoying another player’s success.” – The Caddie Daddy
Why do I use the phrase “the golf of business” instead of the “business of golf”?
The traditions of fairness and etiquette that sustain the greatest game, in my humble opinion, can and should translate to the business world. The integrity, tenacity, imagination, concentration and thick skin it takes to make it around the course on the toughest of days are all desired attributes of successful character in the business arena. Whether your business objectives require playing in a regular foursome, with a stranger, or against a competitor – there exists a commonality of purpose that bonds relationships of value.
The more you practice and play the better you’ll get, and it never hurts to have a trusted caddie!
Looks for my upcoming series in this category called “The Digital Marketing Caddie“. It’s a fun yet enlightening analogy of golf course strategy to successful digital marketing fundamentals. Until then…
See you on the course!
